Why Is Uvac Canyon One of the Serbian Wonders of Nature?

Who didn’t hear for Uvac Canyon and its meanders?

This Special Nature Reserve of the category I is located in southwestern Serbia (in the municipalities of Nova Varoš and Sjenica).

What is so unique about Uvac?

First things first, it boasts untouched nature, lakes, caves, and incredible birds – griffon vultures.

This species of the eagle dubbed “the heavenly king” has almost died out in this area two decades ago. Today, there are about 500 eagles. With a wingspan of 3m, it is the largest bird in Serbia.

But that’s not all.

Meanders are real wonders of nature worth visiting.
They exist in three places in the canyon, and even though they look artificial, they are made by mighty river Uvac.

The most beautiful part of Uvac and its meanders is located 15 km (9.32 miles) from the town of Sjenica. But, roads are in bad condition, so you should use a terrain vehicle.

Of course, this beauty is surrounded by many mind-boggling attractions you shouldn’t miss.

Zlatar, Zlatibor, Tara… to mention a few.

So, if you’re adventurous, this scenery will leave you speechless.

Welcome to Serbia!
